Did Lewandowski deserve the Ballon d'Or more than Messi?
Without the Ballon d'Or in 2020 due to the coronavirus, Robert Lewandowski also lost his prize in 2021. Argentine Lionel Messi took it from him, who won his seventh trophy and left Poland without an award that has escaped his hands until four times.
Lewandowski has not been served by 41 goals from him in 2,463 minutes. Nor beating Messi by more than ten points. Nor to be chosen the footballer of the year in Germany and the best of the season at Bayern Munich. Nor win the German Super Cup and the Bundesliga. And, in 2021, having scored 34 in 15 games.
Football may not have been fair to Lewandowski, who in the previous edition was the obvious winner with even more spectacular numbers and titles. However, the award was deserted and Poland, once again, was left without the Ballon d'Or. Throughout history, Poland has had great figures who touched it.
"With all the respect I owe to Messi and the other great nominated footballers, none of them had as much merit as Lewandowski," the 1990 world champion, now a star commentator on Sky Germany, declared shortly after the announcement of the award winner.

Bayern Munich, who expected to see their top scorer finally crowned the best footballer of the year, reacted with sportsmanship, although supporting their player: "For us, you have been the best," the German club tweeted in a message to the Polish
